Richard I. "Pete" House, 88, of Mifflintown, formerly of McAlisterville, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019, at his home.
He was born May 10, 1930, in Dayton, Ohio.
He is survived by, three children, Chuck Dobbins and wife, Naketa " Nikki", of State College, Wendy Hackenberger, and husband, Steve, of McAlisterville, and Nancy House of Mifflintown; two grandsons, Adam Hackenberger and his girlfriend, Kirsten Olsen, and Wesley Hackenberger and wife, Abby; one great-granddaughter, Isla Hackenberger; three sisters, Louise Phillips and husband, Merrel, of Marysville, Kay Kratzer and husband, Elwood, and Diane De'Sebastian, all of Richfield, one sister-in-law, Mae House, of Richfield, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Mae (Dobbins) House, on Jan. 3, 2017, one son, Richie House, his father, Rev. Clyde E. House, his mother, Ethel (Perry) House, his step-mother Marie (Hornberger) House; two brothers, Edward House and Robert House, and one sister-in-law, Maxine House.
Pete was an electrician. After retiring from Standard Steel, he continued working as an electrical supervisor at Kinney Shoes.
He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, serving during the Korean War.
He was a very active member of Lost Creek Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder and served as Clerk of Session for many years.
He was a member of the Lost Creek Golf Course and of Union Lodge #324 F&AM.
He and his wife were avid golfers who occasionally traveled to other courses to play. He enjoyed building and fixing things, collecting and restoring vintage radios and televisions, and collecting beer steins.
He loved all his family and loved to spend time with them, especially with his grandsons. His great-granddaughter was very special to him.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, at Lost Creek Presbyterian Church, 517 Main Street, McAlisterville, with Rev. Graham Fowler officiating. Interment will be in Lost Creek Presbyterian Cemetery, McAlisterville, at the convenience of the family.
Although there will be no public viewing, the family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
