     Norman C. Hower, 85, of Thompsontown, died Sunday, Feb 19, 2017 at his home in Centre where he had lived all of his life.

     Born Aug. 23, 1931 in Centre, he was a son of the late Henry Blair and Martha Jane (Slautterback) Hower. His loving wife of 54 years, Sarah J. (Davis) Hower, died on May 1, 2012

     He is survived by three children, Randy B. Hower and wife, Cindy, of Thompsontown, Jane E. Stuck and husband, Chuck, of Lewistown, and Cathy Lightner of Thompsontown, one sister, Ruth A. Britcher of Newport, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

     He was preceded in death by one grandson, Jason Leppert, and a son-in-law, Dave Lightner.

     Norm was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He worked in the paint room at Triangle-Pacific for 38 years.

     He was a life member of Walker Grange.

     He was an avid fan of Penn State football, NASCAR racing, and scratch-off lottery tickets. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, pony racing, spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids, and sitting on his porch swing.

     His memorial service and interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
