     John R. Saner, 78, of Mifflin (Walnut), died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital Emergency Room.

     Born Nov. 18 1938 in Paradise, he was a son of the late John A. and Anna (Phenneger) Saner.

     On Feb. 22, 1964, he married his surviving wife, Virginia (Hart) Saner and they were blessed with almost 53 years of marriage

     Also surviving are five children, Wanda J. Saner of Weyers Cave, Va., John A. Saner and wife, Donna, of Mifflintown, Arlen R. Saner of Mifflin, Delores J. Jameson and husband, Terry, of Harrisonburg, Va., and Regina F. Kerlin of Port Royal, two sisters, Nancy Knouse and husband, Carl, of Hummelstown and Mildred Good and husband, Glenn, of Lancaster, five grandchildren, Natalie Weller, and husband, Jimmy, Brett Saner, Bethany Saner, Maci Kerlin, and Jaxon Jameson, three step-grandchildren, Kristina Jones and husband, Colin, Joshua Jameson, and Chason Kratzer, three great-granddaughters, Aurora, Nora, and Clara Weller, and two step-great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Chase Jones.

     John was a life-long dairy farmer. In earlier years, he worked with the Central Pa World Hunger Assoc. In later years, he and his wife enjoyed bus trips and visited most of the states. He was a member of Lost Creek Mennonite Church where he was active with Silver Threads Ministries and served in many other capacities. He and his wife volunteered at Abundant Blessings. His family was very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

     His funeral will be held at 11 am on Saturday, Dec. 10, at Lost Creek Mennonite Church, with Pastor Keith Graybill officiating. Interment will be in Lost Creek Mennonite Cemetery.

     There is a viewing on Friday from 6 to 8 pm and on Saturday from 10 to 11 am, all at the church.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lost Creek Mennonite Church for Mennonite Disaster Service, 2682 Long Road, Mifflintown, PA 17059 or to the Juniata County Food Pantry, PO Box 44, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
