     Andrew E. "Pappy" Baxter, 81, of Mifflintown, passed away Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, at the Hospice of Central PA Hospice House.

     Born Feb. 7, 1935, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late David E. and Mary Grace (Barlett) Baxter.

     He is survived by his wife, Loretta (Kyle) Baxter, whom he married Nov. 27, 1959, three children, Karen L. Yetter and husband, Craig, of Dover, Pa., Scott A. Baxter of Mifflintown, and Amy C. Beward and husband, Brian A., of Middleburg; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Brennan, Caitlyn, Hunter and Kyle, one great-grandson, Corbin, and one sister, Emma D. Huff of Mifflintown.

     He was preceded in death by two brothers, David Baxter and Robert Baxter.

     Andy was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War.

     He was a construction worker and tractor trailer driver for various companies.

     He was a life member of the Juniata Co. Sportsmen's Assoc. and the Brooklyn Fire Co.

     He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, golfing, and especially attending his grandchildren's activities.

     His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Mike Baumgardner, officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown, where military honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.

     There will be a viewing from 7 to 9 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

     In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence, 1701 Linglestown Rd, Harrisburg PA 17110.
