Gabriella M. "Gabby" Baney, 11, of Mifflintown and Mechanicsburg, went into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Hershey Medical Center.

She was born May 17, 2004 in Lewistown.

She is survived by her mother, Ashley N. Walton and companion John V. Hoffman, of Mechanicsburg, her father, Jeremy M. Baney and companion, Jennifer Dessin, of Mifflintown, one brother, Mason M. Baney, one half-brother, Roen R. Baney, grandparents, R. Randy and Penny (Rapp) Baney of Thompsontown and Eric and Ruth (Walton) Anderson of Mechanicsburg, great-grandmothers, Joyce Rapp and Pat Baney, both of Thompsontown, and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandfather, Charles Rapp, Sr. and her great-grandmother, Minnie Walton, in addition to other family members that she never had a chance to know.

Gabby was an unselfish person who loved to give and to help others. She had a smile that lit up a room and she touched the hearts of many people. She loved God and was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, East Salem. She played soccer and was on the Port Royal U-12 soccer team. She loved her family and her friends and always watched out for her brother, Mason. She loved Monarch butterflies and all animals. She was in sixth grade at Tuscarora Junior High School. She played the flute, and enjoyed fishing, doing ceramics, swimming, riding rollercoasters, camping, and cooking, especially her special chili. She made friends wherever she went. She never complained in all she went through, and wanted people to know about childhood cancer.

There will be a viewing on Saturday, April 2, from 8 am until the funeral service at 11 am, at East Salem United Methodist Church, 7398 Rt. 235, Mifflintown with Rev. Joseph Yorks and Rev. Alan Hulslander, officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Mifflintown.

One of Gabby's requests was that people make her service a celebration of her life by wearing bright colors and bringing purple balloons to release at the cemetery.

Instead of sending flowers, the family asks those who desire to make a memorial contribution to Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, PA 17059.

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your daughter. I know words may not be enough to help with a pain I can not immagine. Just remember to celebrate her life and happiness. Your love for her will span time and space eternally. Because love is forever. Do not be sad about her death but rather celebrate her life. My deepest sympathy.
