Virginia A. Foltz, 86, of Port Royal, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at her home near Walnut.

She was born on June 5, 1928, in Nook.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, John M. Foltz, on September 29, 1995; her mother, Pearl M. Woodward Titzell, and her step-father, H. Stetson Titzell.

She is survived by three children, Sharon L. Long and husband, Robert, of Saginaw, Michigan, J. Steven Foltz and wife, Kathy, of Palmyra, and Timothy L. Foltz of Port Royal; her special friend and brother-in-law, G. Robert Keiser of Mifflin; eight grandchildren, Andrea Long, Greg Long and wife, Amy, Nicole Benner and husband, Andrew, John Foltz and wife, Angela, Karen Stover and husband, Jeff, Adam Foltz, Jaclyn Foltz, and Jessica Zook and husband, Ben, and nine great-grandchildren.

Virginia graduated from Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown, and worked as a clerk at Lyter's Store, Walnut. She was the Beale Township tax collector for many years.

She was a very active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Sunday school, Nook, where she served as the church organist for more than 25 years.

She was a former cub scout den mother, held many positions in Walnut Grange #776 and was involved in many Walnut festivals and community activities.

She was a Golden Star member, past matron, and past secretary of Mifflin Chapter No. 260 Order of the Eastern Star, as well as serving the Grand Chapter of Pennsylvania in various appointments including Past District Deputy Grand Matron and as Grand Organist.

She enjoyed reading, playing the piano, traveling, playing cards, going on family vacations, and hosting Fresh Air children in the summer. But the most important thing to her was being a good wife, mother, and grandmother, and spending time with her family.

As her health declined, she was grateful that she could stay in her own home and the family would like to extend their thanks to the following caregivers-Linda Partner, Jess Zook, Jess Taylor, Fran Burd, Jennifer Marshall and Carrie Brubaker.  Your kindnesses will long be remembered.

Her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 17, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 15275 Rt. 35 South, Mifflin, PA 17058, with Rev. Charles L. Hershberger, officiating.  Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.

There will be a viewing on Thursday, April 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, and on Friday at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the services. Mifflin Chapter No. 260 O.E.S. will conduct a memorial service at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, those who desire may make memorial contributions to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Organ Fund, PO Box 337, Mifflin, PA 17058.
