Robert 'Gene' Eugene Berry

     Robert Eugene “Gene” Berry, 85, of Port Royal, passed away on Jan. 9, 2022, at his home.

     Born April 4, 1936, in Perulack, PA, he was a son of the late Clarence and Nellie (Kirk) Berry.

     He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Sylvia (Zendt) Berry, whom he married on June 23, 1957, and who passed away on March 16, 2014.

     He is survived by two children, Douglas R. Berry and wife, Linda, of Lewisberry, and Kathy Holmes and husband, Kenton, of Lewisberry, six grandchildren, Ashley Rhoads and husband, Paul, Seth Berry and wife, Shannon, Emily Hardy, Todd Berry, Mackenzie Holmes, and Megan Holmes, three great-grandchildren, Olivia Rhoads, Luke Rhoads, and Tyler Berry, one sister, Lois Yarlett and husband, David, and one brother, Carl Berry and wife, Deb.

     Gene graduated from Juniata Joint High School.

     He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

     He was a UPS Truck Driver for over thirty years, and was a member of the 25-Years Safe Driving Club (UPS Gold Jacket Club).

     His hobbies included hunting, fishing, traveling, camping, and small engine repairs. He enjoyed spending time with his family and supporting them in their sports activities.

     There will be a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 13 at the Port Royal Lutheran Church with Rev. Richard Adams officiating followed by the funeral service at 11 at the church. Interment will follow in Lost Creek Mennonite Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council, followed by a lunch at 1:00 at the Port Royal Lutheran Church.
