Rena Auker Obituary

Rena M. Auker, 92, of Mifflintown, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Brookline Manor.

Born Jan. 9, 1932 in Allensville, she was a daughter of the late Ira Newton and Edith (Summers) Yoder. Her husband, Earl R. Auker, whom she married in November of 1952, passed away on Aug. 16, 2010.

She is survived by five children, Jerry Auker and wife, Rose, of McAlisterville, Waneta Mast and husband, Ron, Tim Auker and wife, Kelly, and Tina Hunsberger and husband, David, all of Mifflintown, and Gwyn Gephart and husband, Mike, of Newport. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Roy, Paul, George, James, and Robert Yoder.

Rena graduated from Allensville High School. She worked beside her husband on their farms in Mifflin and Juniata Counties and also encouraged him when they started the Auker-Ena John Deere Dealership in Oakland Mills, which they co-owned from 1976 until 1983. As an older adult, she graduated from Penn State University and taught at Juniata Mennonite School.

She and her husband always dreamed of a thrift store in Juniata County that would support mission work and they were instrumental in starting Abundant Blessings. After Rena retired from teaching, she served as a manager at the thrift store.

She was active in Manbeck Mennonite Church, Beaver Springs until they moved to Juniata County in 1976 when she became a member of Cedar Grove Brethren In Christ Church.

She loved to learn and enjoyed reading, sewing, playing instruments, and singing.

She was a remarkable woman with many skills, talents, and abilities that radiated from her dedication and love for Jesus Christ.
