Kenneth E. “Ken” Geedey, 88, of Mifflintown, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born Aug. 4, 1932, near Mifflintown, he was a son of the late Blair Lee and Catharine (Graham) Geedey.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara J. (Pines) Geedey, whom he married Feb. 8, 1957, one daughter, Deborah G. Chambers, and husband, Ron, of McAlisterville, two grandsons, Joshua Chambers and Arjay Chambers and companion, Molly, two great-grandchildren, Lexy Eberts and Braxton Chambers, and two brothers, Robert Geedey and John Geedey and wife, Linda.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Katherine Geedey, three sisters, Betty Booher, Patricia Keller, and Margaret Moad, and one brother, Blair Geedey Jr.
Ken graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1951. He worked for the American Viscose Corporation until 1972 when he became a crane operator at Standard Steel until he retired in 1997.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, the Middle Ridge Gun Club, Union Lodge #324, Harrisburg Consistory, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, VFW Post 5863, American Legion Post 298, and was formerly active with the Juniata County Veterans Council.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid Penn State football, Phillies, and Steelers fan. He loved his family and spending time with them.
There will be a visitation beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, with military honors accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council at 2 p.m., followed by the memorial service with Vicar Samuel Leister officiating. All services will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, Mifflintown. Masks will be required and social distancing will be observed. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
In lieu of flowers, those who desire are asked to make a memorial contribution to Messiah Lutheran Church, 3 S. Third St., Mifflintown.
