Edith I. Nipple, 95, of Mifflintown, passed away, Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Brookline Manor.
Born Oct. 20, 1928 in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Charles E. and Willa (Pecht) Davidheiser. Her husband, William C. Nipple, whom she married July 29, 1950, died on Aug. 7, 1992.
She is survived by three children, Diane O’Prey and husband, Donald, David Nipple and wife, Lana, and Donald Nipple and wife, Pat, one sister, Mary Aumiller, six grandchildren, Laura Smith, Shona Roush, Carrie Twaddell, David Nipple II, Nick Yetter, and Bill Nipple, seven great-grandchildren, Jonathon, Jade, Evelyn, Melanie, Lydia, Jordan, and Ian, and two great-great-grandchildren, Anika and Jonah. She also raised Lonnie Crowell as her son and considered he, his wife, Jen, their children, Andrea and Ben and their grandchildren, Savannah and Tanner to be part of her family.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Nelson, Wilbur, Don, Roy, and Frank, and three sisters, Emily, Margaret, and Dolly.
Edie graduated from Lewistown High School in 1946. She retired as a quality technician for the former AMP Inc. in 1989 after 23 years of service. She then worked in the concession stand at the Midway Drive-in.
She was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church and enjoyed quilting with the Needlers and organizing funeral meals for many years. She also helped with the meals and functions at Friendship Fire Company, Port Royal and volunteered with Meals on Wheels for over 20 years.
Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, sewing, quilting, cross-stitch and loved to share things she made with her family. She entered items in the Juniata County Fair for years and won many ribbons. She loved to volunteer her time to help other people.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 18, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Samuel J. Leister officiating. Interment will follow in St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery.
There will be a viewing from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services Monday at the funeral home.
