Darwin E. Jones

     Darwin E. Jones, 92, of Thompsontown, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

     Born Nov. 3, 1929, in Juniata County, he was a son of the late Harold Richard and Ruth (Sieber) Jones. His wife, Alice June (Hackenberger) Jones, whom he married on Jan. 14, 1950, passed away on Nov. 10, 2013.

     He is survived by two children, Tammy Shirk and husband, Tracy, of Bloomsburg and Roger Jones and wife, Rosemary, of McAlisterville, one sister, Mary Crimmel of Mifflintown, one sister-in-law, Jeanne Jones of Walnut, grandchildren, Jayme Bloom and husband, Tyler, Jesse Shirk and wife, Robyn, Kasi Coder, Adam Coder, Toby Jones and wife, Marianne, and six great-grandchildren.

     He was preceded in death by one brother, H. Richard Jones and one brother-in-law, Bob Crimmel.

     Darwin attended Juniata Joint High School and was a veteran of the United States Army.

     He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers where he worked for various companies as an electrician, including working on the railroad.

     He was a fan of Nascar and of Phillies baseball. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching hummingbirds and bluebirds, but especially enjoyed spending time with his children, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren.

     His graveside memorial service and interment will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, at Thompsontown Lutheran Cemetery with Pastor George L. Zimmerman officiating. Please bring a chair if you wish to be seated for the service.
