The memorial service for William F. "Bill" Hubler will be held at the Port Royal Presbyterian Church at 11 am on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025 with Pastor Jodi Strawser officiating and military honors provided by the Juniata Co. Veterans Council.
William F. “Bill” Hubler, 87, of Mifflintown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024 at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
He was born July 21, 1937 in Baltimore, MD.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara E. (Druckenmiller) Hubler whom he married July 29, 1962.
Also surviving are one son, William F. Hubler II and wife, Chen-Yu Tsuei, of Hummelstown, one daughter, Karen L. Mills and husband, Clayton B. Mills, of Nashville, TN, two grandchildren, Rachael Sebastian and husband, Evan, and Joshua Chronister and wife, Lauren, four great-grandchildren, Ava, Logan, Norah, and Ezra and one sister, Betty Ann Barrera.
He was preceded in death by his father, James M. Hubler, Sr. his mother, Inez (Reed) Basom, his step-mother, Lois Hubler, one brother, James M. Hubler, Jr., and one step-brother, Robert Rheam.
He graduated from Tuscarora Valley High School and from Shippensburg University with a BS and MS in Education.
Bill was a dedicated husband, proud father, and dotting grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a data analyst in South Korea and at Walter Reed Hospital.
Bill taught math and was a guidance counselor at Tuscarora Junior High School and Juniata High School. He also spent decades with the Port Royal Racing Association.
He was a member of Port Royal Presbyterian Church, Union Masonic Lodge #324, and Tall Cedars of Lebanon.
He was a professional Orvis Fly Fishing Guide and, as an avid sportsman, was a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Trout Unlimited, a life member of the NRA, and a former member of Sand Spring Gun Club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dirt track racing, and loved Juniata County.
His graveside service was held at 10 a.m on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024 at Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal, with Pastor Jodi Strawser officiating.
