William C. “Bill” Dressler, 75, of Mifflin, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born March 30, 1946, he was a son of the late Robert and Hulda (Henderson) Dressler. His wife, Dixie (Swab) Dressler, whom he married June 18, 1966, passed away on March 3, 2021.
He is survived by three children and their families, Tasha A. Shoop and her son, Kyle Shoop, Heather Y. Rossman and her husband, Raymond, and children, Cole Walters, Carli Walters, and Drew Rossman, and Chad H. Dressler and wife, Kristina, and children, Nicolas Dressler, Ty Dressler, Brody Noerr, and Emmy Dressler, three great-grandchildren, Dax Shoop, Kase Rossman and Kimber Rossman, and four sisters, Ruth Williams, Sandy Robey, Clara Whistler and husband, Lloyd, and Jackie Fowler.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred Borowski, Mary Walton, and Nora Stacey, one brother, Robert Donald Dressler, and a daughter-in-law, Sarah Dressler.
Bill graduated from Juniata Joint High School
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in Germany as an MP.
He owned and operated Dressler’s Barber Shop in Mifflin for more than 50 years. It was not only a barber shop, but a place for friends to gather.
As a teenager, Bill set bowling pins by hand and had several other jobs.
He was a Christian by faith.
He was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan and enjoyed skiing, hunting, and traveling to Benezette to see the elk. He valued his friends and loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He formerly managed the J&J Distributer’s softball team and served as catcher, when needed.
He was a Milford Township supervisor and a member of Union Lodge #324 F&AM, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, the American Legion and the Loyal Order of Moose.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 4, at Cedar Grove Brethren In Christ Church, 287 Deerville Road, Mifflintown, with retired pastor, Jennifer Heikes, officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Mifflintown where full military honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council and a Masonic Service will be conducted by Union Lodge.
There will be a viewing from 11 a.m. until the time of the services on Monday at the church.
All Covid protocols will be followed for the services.
