Virginia "Ginny" M. Zimmerman

    Virginia M. “Ginny” Zimmerman, 90, of Mifflintown, passed away Monday, March 27, 2023, at her home.

     Born May 26, 1932, in Thompsontown, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Cleo (Partner) Rice. Her beloved husband, David C. Zimmerman, whom she married July 30, 1955, died April 12, 2005. Also preceding her in death were one son, Charles “Chuck” Zimmerman on March 17, 2023, two sisters, Shirley Houtz and Beverly Kelley and one brother, Herbert Rice.

     She is survived by three children, David “Rusty” Zimmerman and wife, Deb, of Port Royal, Mitzi Berrier and husband, Michael, of Mechanicsburg, and Scott Zimmerman and wife, Candi, of Port Royal, her daughter-in-law, Lisa Zimmerman of Lewistown, grandchildren Brandy Shearer (Adam) and Josh Zimmerman (Mandy), all of Port Royal, Sean Berrier of Denver, Jesse Berrier (Amanda) of Camp Hill, Zachery Zimmerman (Janelle) of Mifflintown, Tricia Zimmerman (Alex) of Mt. Wolf, Traci Henry (Jeremy) of Mifflintown, Anthony McCullough (Lannie) of Del Mar, MD, Travis McCullough (Wendy) of Lewistown, Nick Zimmerman (Melissa) of Lewistown, and Taylor Fiore (Joe) of Lewistown, and great-grandchildren, Rylee, Ava, Skylar, Noah, Leland, Olivia, Lincoln, Isabella, Zoe, Hudson, Kinley and one on the way.

     She graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1951 and worked at Empire Kosher.

     She was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church and the church quilting group.

     She enjoyed sewing and was a former volunteer with Meals on Wheels, but her greatest love was spending time with her family.

     Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Richard Adams officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Mifflintown.

     There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. until the time of the services Thursday at the funeral home.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 8489 Licking Creek Road, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
