Viola M. (Book) Lauver, 95, of Van Wert, passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020, at Valley View Haven, Belleville.
Born Sept. 11, 1924, she was a daughter of the late William and Melissa (Hackenberger) Book. Her husband, Jay A. Lauver, whom she married on March 20, 1953, died on March 28, 1988.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Lauver and Keith Lauver, both of Mifflintown, one sister, Jane Benner of Chambersburg, one sister-in-law, Iva Book of Mifflintown, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters, Russell Book, Ruth Gingrich, Roy Book, Esther Saner, and Mary Corbin.
Mrs. Lauver was an LPN who worked at Black’s Hospital and cared for people in her community as well as in her own home for several years until 1963 when she went to work at the Selinsgrove Center, retiring in 1988 after 25 years of service.
She was a very active member of Cedar Grove Brethren In Christ Church and enjoyed going to Roxbury camp every year.
She had traveled to all 50 states, most of Canada, and many places in Europe. She also enjoyed reading.
Her memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 14 at Cedar Grove Brethren In Christ Church, 287 Deerville Road, Mifflintown, with Rev. Ken Hepner officiating. Interment in Union Cemetery, Mifflintown, will be private. There will be no viewing.
The family will provide all funeral flowers and asks those who desire to send a memorial contribution to Roxbury Holiness Camp, PO Box 28, Roxbury PA 17251.
