Verta M. (Zimmerman) Colyer

     Verta M. (Zimmerman) Colyer, 82, died peacefully on Friday, April 16, 2021, at her home outside of Port Royal.

     Born on July 13, 1938 on the family farm in Milford Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Lyman C. and Sara E. (Saylor) Zimmerman.

     She is survived by one daughter, Angie Colyer Nearhood and husband, Todd, of Port Royal, one son, Gregory Colyer and wife, Heather, of Port Royal, one step-son, Larry Colyer and wife, Patti, of Bruceville, Texas, two brothers, Delmar C. Zimmerman and Larry W. Zimmerman, both of Mifflin, six grandchildren, Trevor Nearhood and his wife, Megan, of Mount Union, Timothy Nearhood of Port Royal, Hayley Barnes of Thompsontown, Sydney Colyer of Port Royal, Meghan Colyer and Machaila Hays, both of Bruceville Texas, and one great-granddaughter, Kenzleigh Hays.

     She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Lloyd W. Colyer on August 17, 2018, one sister, Cynthia “Cindy” Glock, one brother Darwin E. “Doc” Zimmerman, and one step-son, Tim Colyer.

     Verta retired from the Juniata Valley Bank and was an Avon Sales Representative for more than 30 years.

     She was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Mifflintown.

     She enjoyed camping with her husband and she loved to spend time with her family.

     Her funeral service will be private and held at the convenience of the family with Rev. Jerri Carlin, officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery, Licking Creek Valley.

     In lieu of flowers, those who desire are asked to make a memorial contribution to 365 Hospice, 220 Regent Court, State College, PA 17801.
