Thelma J. Swartz, 82, of McAlisterville, formerly of Mifflin, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.
Born Dec. 23, 1938, she was a daughter of the late George S. and Anna Mae (Morgan) Miller. Her husband, James Banks “Jim” Swartz, Sr., whom she married Dec. 31, 1955, died Nov. 2, 2013.
She is survived by five children, Ann Ranck and husband, Steve, of Mifflintown, David Swartz of Killeen, TX, Dori Bowersox and husband, Raymond of Middleburg, Donald Swartz and wife, Kim, of Wernersville, and James Swartz Jr. and wife, Jodi, of Carlisle, one sister, Betty J. McCoy of York, 14 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Cooper and Margaret Criswell.
Thelma was a breakfast cook at Brookline Village.
She enjoyed reading, word searches and doing embroidery. Her parakeet, Mr. Honey, was very special to her.
A private funeral service will be held at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown. Interment will be in Adams Cemetery.
