Samuel William Weiand, Sr., 74, of McAlisterville, passed away Monday, June 29, 2020, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.
Born Dec. 23, 1945, in Arch Rock, he was a son of the late Verne and Frances Matilda “Tilly” (Yetter) Weiand.
He is survived by two children, Samuel William Weiand, Jr. and wife, Crystal Elaine Stoner and April Frances Weiand, all of McAlisterville, one brother, Edward C. Weiand of McAlisterville, two grandsons, Samuel William Weiand III and Cody Lee Weiand, and a great-niece, Mercedes Lynn Snyder and two great-nephews, Devlin Ryan Snyder and Zachary William Weiand, who were like grandchildren to him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Larue (Kreider) Weiand, whom he married Dec. 18, 1970, on May 15, 2000, one son, Michael William Weiand in 1990, one brother, Harry C. Weiand, Sr. and one sister, Alice M. Benner.
Sam graduated from East Juniata High School in 1966 and worked at local pallet shops and fruit farms.
His service will be held at the convenience of the family and he will be buried in Lost Creek Mennonite Cemetery.
