Samuel R. “Hoppy” Casner, 86, of Mifflintown, passed away Friday, Dec. 13, 2024 at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
He was born Feb. 22, 1938 in Mifflin.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Peggy L. (Armstrong) Casner whom he married July 16 1962, one daughter, Robin Casner and companion, Tim Davis, of Millerstown, and one brother, Ronald Casner and wife, Sara, of McClure.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Samuel Casner, his mother, Elsie (Wentz) Miller, one sister, Jean Stoner, and three infant children.
He graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1958 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
He retired from Triangle-Pacific Cabinet Corporation, Thompsontown.
He was an active member of the Mifflintown VFW and American Legion.
He was an avid Steeler’s football fan.
His graveside service will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at Union Cemetery, Mifflintown where full military honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council. If you wish to be seated for the service, please bring a chair.
Memorial contributions may be made to a pet charity of the donor’s choice.
