Ruth E. Kirk, 86, peacefully passed away Monday, January 27, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born April 28, 1938 in Lockport, Mifflin Co., she was a daughter of the late Ira Calvin and Nora Myrtle (Spickler) Ziegler. Her husband, Clifford A. Kirk whom she married Oct 4, 1964, passed away on July 30, 2013. Also preceding her in death were one brother, Charles Spickler and his first wife, Betty and second wife, Jo, one sister, Nora Beaston and her husband, Paul, and three nieces, Pauline Beaston, Debra Amspacker and husband, Dean, and Nancy Kornbau.
She is survived by one sister, Bertha R. Harshbarger of McVeytown, six nieces and nephews, Eleanor Witherite and husband, David, Pamela Bilger and husband, Larry, James Harshbarger, Jeanette Russell and husband, Chris, Judy French and husband, John, and Susan Reed and husband, Lynn and their families of many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, all of whom loved her dearly.
Ruth worked for a short time at Royal Dairy and Lewistown Trust, but spent most of her life being a homemaker.
She was a former member of Mifflin Chapter #260 O.E.S.
She enjoyed gardening, taking care of her dogs, Pokie and Amy, traveling with her husband while he was living, and especially spending time with her family.
There will be a viewing on Saturday, Feb. 1 from 11:00 a.m. to noon at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third Street, Mifflintown followed by her funeral on Saturday at noon at the funeral home with hospice chaplain, Rev. Brad Zembower officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
