Ruth E. Harding, 80, of Arch Rock, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born March 10, 1941, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late William W. and Elsie E. (Deamer) Swartz. Her husband, Lloyd Harding, whom she married Nov. 8, 1958, passed away on Dec. 6, 2003.
She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Gallagher and husband, Patrick, of Mifflintown, one granddaughter, Tonya Yasovsky of Milton, one great-grandson, Zander Gallagher of Mifflintown, and one sister, Darlene Rodkey and husband, Mel, of Lewistown.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, James Swartz, Sandra White, Lillian Dunn and William Swartz.
She graduated from Empire Beauty School and owned and operated Ruth Harding’s Beauty Salon in Arch Rock for many years.
She was a Jehovah’s Witness her entire life.
Ruth loved to crochet and, over the years, gifted many baby afghans to friends. She liked nature and the outdoors. Over the past few years, she couldn’t get out as much due to her health issues, but she still enjoyed looking outside through her windows. She loved her home and property in Arch Rock, which was her family homestead, and was very happy that she was able to maintain her life in that location.
