Roxie M Schlegel Lauver, 92, of Mifflintown, passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, at her home.
Born Oct. 13, 1929 in Belleville, she was a daughter of the late Jay T. and Mary Lenore (Lyter) Hoffman.
She is survived by one son, Donald R. Schlegel and wife, Debra, of Mifflintown, one daughter, Melinda M. Jones and husband, Roland, of Willards, MD, six grandchildren, Rachael Collins, Erika Hurley, Troy D. Schlegel, Todd A. Schlegel, Nathan Schlegel, and Nichole Garrett, two step-grandsons, Matt Jones and Daniel Jones, three siblings, Betty J. Biddle of Lewistown, William H. Hoffman of Haddenfield, NJ, and Rhoda L. Beyer of Middleburg, and eleven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George L. “Roy” Schlegel on Sept. 30, 1960, her second husband, Donald S. Lauver on Oct. 28, 1984, one son, Steven L. “Zac” Schlegel, one sister, Patricia G. Foster, and one brother, John Hoffman..
Roxie was a bookkeeper at Hilltop Oil and worked at Mac’s Clothing, the bowling alley, and was a private caregiver.
She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Mifflin, volunteered at Abundant Blessings and with Meals On Wheels, and was an exercise instructor at Four Seasons Senior Center.
She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, square dancing, and she loved to be with her family and friends.
It was her wish to donate her body to science. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
