Roxanne M. “Roxie” Goshorn, 79, of Mifflintown (Dogtown), passed away Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born Dec. 6, 1941, in Dogtown, she was a daughter of the late Frederick C. and Marjorie M. (Renninger) Casner. Her husband of 56 years, Donald E. Goshorn, Sr., whom she married April 6, 1958, died on Jan. 13, 2015.
She is survived by four children, Donald E. Goshorn, Jr. and wife, Christine, Terry A. Goshorn and wife, Barbara, and Linda D. Whistler and husband, Steven, all of Mifflintown, and James M. Goshorn and wife, Kristie, of Port Royal, six grandchildren, Donald Goshorn, III and wife, Beth, Jonathan Goshorn, Andrea Berrier and husband, Matthew, Julia Beitz and husband, Zack, Adam Goshorn, and Sarah Goshorn, one great-grandson, Gavin Goshorn, and three brothers, Robert “Chink” Casner, Stanley “Brad” Casner, and William “Bill” Casner.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Esther “Sis” Dunn, Marjorie “Monie” Kistler, Sonja Hockenberry and three brothers, F. Barry Casner, Henry “Cal” Casner, and Merrill Casner.
Roxie worked as a seamstress at Donegal Industries in Mt. Joy and Juniata Garment, Mifflin. She then worked at Gene Losch Flooring and Furniture in Thompsontown and had a home daycare for children for many years. She and her husband previously owned Goshorn’s Tavern, Mifflin as well as operating Goshorn Auto Salvage and Towing, Mifflintown from 1968 through 2015.
She was a very active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post 5863, Mifflintown where she cooked and cleaned. She also cleaned at the American Legion.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, decorating her house for every holiday, and especially spending time with her family.
Although the family will not be present, anyone who wishes to pay their last respects to Roxie may attend the viewing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third Street, Mifflintown. The funeral and burial in Adams Cemetery will be private.
