Ronald “Ronnie” D. Guyer, 35, of Thompsontown, passed away Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
He was born July 21, 1986.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Rich and Debra (Varner) Richmond of Thompsontown, his father and step-mother, Ronald and Vicki Guyer of Wetumpka, AL, his partner, Lydia Walker of Thompsontown, one sister, Katie Poling and husband, Brad, of Port Royal, two step-brothers, James Richmond and wife, Keila, of Mechanicsburg and Zach Pratt and wife, Jennifer, of Riverside, CT, one step sister, Elizabeth Richmond of Thompsontown, his maternal grandfather, Philip Varner of Oakland Mills, his paternal grandmother, Reba Guyer of Thompsontown, and two nieces and a nephew, Zoe Richmond of Thompsontown, and Gage Poling and Anna Poling of Port Royal.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Donald Guyer, his maternal grandmother, Nancy Varner, and one step-brother, Joshua Richmond.
He earned an Associate Degree in specialized technology and was a fifth year apprentice working toward his journeyman position as an electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union local 143. He worked on various projects, including helping to build a children’s hospital in Hershey.
He was a member of the Lewistown Pistol Club where he competed in shooting events and helped organize shooting events for teens and adults. His talents were recognized and his corporate sponsors were Hunters HD Gold and Steel Target Paint companies. He was one of the organizers for hosting the RCS (Rimfire Challenge) 2021 PA State Championship and was a certified NRA instructor.
He was a frequent participant and winner of RC (race car) competitions, was a Civil War history buff, and, during high school and for several years after graduating, served as a sound and lights technician for East Juniata High School and New Harvest Church.
His memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Cedar Grove Church Fellowship Hall, 287 Deerville Road, Mifflintown, with Pastor Ken Hepner officiating. A gathering for friends and family will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the Lewistown Pistol Club, 25 Ridge Runner Lane, Lewistown.
