Ronald E. “Ron” Guss, 70, of Camp Hill, passed away Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Born Sept. 12, 1950, in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Roy M. and Anna E. (Crozier) Guss.
He is survived by one brother, Roger M. Guss and his wife Kerri L. Guss, one nephew, Roger M. Guss Jr. and wife Nicole Guss, two nieces, Brannon K. Evans and husband, Richard Evans, and Brittni M. Dickerson and husband, Derek Dickerson. Also surviving are two step-daughters, Dawn Resh and husband, Dr. Eric Resh and Amy Santucci and husband, Dan Santucci, and four step-grandchildren, Alexa and Jessica Santucci and Cort and Blake Resh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Lee Guss.
He graduated from Central Dauphin East and Kutztown University.
He was a compliance officer, recently retiring from Member’s First Bank.
Ron belonged to the Rotary Club, the Gourmet Club, and was involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters, all in the Harrisburg area.
His favorite place was Hershey Park where he loved the rides. He also enjoyed being active and going shopping. He was a generous person and always had a positive attitude. He loved his family very much and considered his nieces and nephew to be his grandchildren.
His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 5, at Lower Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, Academia, with Rev. John Park officiating. Interment will follow in the Academia Cemetery.
There will be a visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of the services at the church on Friday. Masks will be required and social distancing will be observed at the church.
The church and cemetery are located at 54 Church Road, Mifflin, PA 17058. To get to the church, from the Mifflintown round-about, follow PA-35 S, across the Juniata River. Go 5.6 miles to the village of Walnut. At this end of Walnut, turn left at the Y onto Academia Road. (If you pass the Cheese Nook, you’ve gone too far.) Stay on Academia Road for 2.6 miles until you get to the village of Academia. At the stone Tuscarora Academy building on the corner on your left, bear right on Church Road and go up to the church, overlooking Academia.
A memorial gathering for his friends and family will be planned in the summer in the Harrisburg area.
