Ronald G. Shivery, 89, of Rockville, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020, at Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
He was born Nov. 12, 1930 in Mifflintown.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, J. Louise (Shugarts) Shivery, whom he married March 29, 1957, one sister-in-law, Sandy Kirk, one brother-in-law, Lawrence R. Shugarts, and several nieces, nephews, and their families.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dena L. Shivery, on March 15, 1997, his father, Maxwell Shivery, his mother, Stella (Nipple) Jacobs, and his step-father, George S. Jacobs.
He graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1948 and was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1948 to 1954.
He worked for D.E. Smith and retired as an Inspector for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Mifflintown V.F.W.
He enjoyed watching college football, especially Penn State and spending time with his family and friends.
His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Dan Kerlin officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery, Licking Creek Valley.
There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
