Robert P. “Bob” Lawson, 89, of Mifflin, passed away Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024 at his home in Walnut.
Born May 13, 1935 in Honey Grove, he was a son of the late C. Brooks and Ernestine (Krick) Lawson. His wife of 46 years, Sindra “Sis” (Hockenberry) Lawson passed away on Jan. 12, 2007.
He is survived by one son, Larry “Wolfer” Lawson and wife, Doris of Pleasant Gap, one daughter, Linda Lawson and husband, Mike Rogowicz, of Mechanicsburg, his companion, Patsy Buchanan, of Honey Grove, six grandchildren, Lindsey, Kevin and wife, Vanessa, Andrew, Shane and wife, Alisha, Brian and Alicia and husband, Justin, eleven great-grandchildren, Koltin and wife, Grace, Collen, Aleah, Hunter, Logan, Makenna, Ruger, Beretta, Bailey, Addison and Gavin.
Also preceding him in death were three brothers, John B. Lawson, Earl G. “Whitey” Lawson and Ernest K. Lawson and one great-grandson, Kody.
Bob graduated from Juniata Joint High School and was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.
He worked on the pipeline and then retired from Penn Dot as a heavy equipment Operator 4.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Beale Township Fire Co., Mifflintown VFW and American Legion, Millerstown Moose and the Nook Gun Club. He enjoyed family gatherings at Shady Rest Cabin, going to sales and auctions, and hunting. He was a train enthusiast and was fascinated by railroad history. He enjoyed socializing with his retired friends at McDonalds and Burger King. But his favorite thing was spending time with his family.
His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Rev. Charles Hershberger, officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Nook where full military honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
There will be a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025, at the funeral home.
