Richard 'Rick' M. Walters

     Richard M. “Rick” Walters, 74, of Mifflin, passed away due to Covid-19 complications on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

     He was born Aug. 2, 1947 in Mifflin.

     He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Wanda (Schlegel) Walters, whom he married Sept. 3, 1972, three sons, Richard M. Walters II and wife, Jennifer of Mifflintown, Michael J. Walters and wife, Connie, of Mifflin, and Daniel F. Walters and wife, Terina, of Thompsontown, one sister, Deloris Dunn and husband, Richard of Mifflintown, six grandchildren, Leah Walters and husband, John, Elizabeth Singer and husband, Derrick, Leonard Bryan, Richard Walters III, Eric Walters, and Chase Walters, and two great-grandchildren, Jaxon Singer and Newt Walters.

     He was preceded in death by his father, Marlin “Squink” Walters, his mother, Miriam J. (Shellenberger) Walters Master, his step-father, Percy Master, one brother, David Walters, and one sister, Wanda Goshorn.

     He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1966 to 1968.

     Rick was a real estate broker and owned R.M. Walters Real Estate until he semi-retired. Then he joined Century 21 Above and Beyond until his retirement.

     He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

     He enjoyed gardening, working with flowers, and collecting butterflies. His family and spending time with them was the most important thing to him.

     There will be a virtual memorial service via Zoom at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 7, 2021, with Jay Whistler III officiating. For those who would like to attend, the Zoom link is below.
