R. Ernest "Ernie" Nipple

     R. Ernest "Ernie" Nipple, 78, of Mifflintown (Licking Creek Valley), went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Sept. 19, 2022, at the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital Emergency Room.

     Born Sept. 3, 1944, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Charles Ralph and Betty J. (Ernest) Nipple.

     He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sherry A. (Eisenacher) Nipple, whom he married Aug. 9, 1965, two children, Tracy Nipple and wife, Diane, and Melissa Haynes and fiancé, Chet Thompson Jr., all of Mifflintown, one sister, Mary M. Allen of Williamsport, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

     He was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Nipple, and one sister, Virginia Erhard.

     Ernie graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1962 and started working as a milk tester for DHIA. He then worked for Sire Power as an AI technician until he retired.

     He was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Maple Grove Sunday School, and Pennsylvania Farmer’s Association.

     He enjoyed tending his animals in his barn and loved being with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

     His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Richard Adams officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery.

     There will be a viewing from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the church.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Maple Grove Sunday School, 6507 Licking Creek Road, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
