Paul Ammon Wagner, 80, of Mifflintown, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021, peacefully at his home due to natural causes.
He was born June 28, 1941, in New Lancaster Valley, Snyder County to the late Roy F. and Zella M. (Bonson) Wagner.
On November 26, 1965, Paul married the love of his life, Jane E. Aughey. His passing ended 55 years of wedded bliss.
In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by their two children, Connie L. Shoop and husband, Jason, and Timothy P. Wagner and wife, April, five grandchildren, Nicolas Varner and wife, Shelbie, Corissa Wagner, Rebecca Shoop, Bryce Wagner and Daniel Shoop and four great-grandchildren, Liam, Paige, Quinn and Silja Varner.
Also surviving are four siblings, John Wagner of Mifflintown, Betty Paige of Mifflintown, Gladys Boyer and husband, Robert, of Port Royal, Roy Wagner and wife, Jeannie, of McVeytown, his brother-in-law, Harry Colabine of Beavertown, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Colabine, a sister-in-law, Barbara Wagner, and his parents-in-law, Harry and Betty Aughey.
He retired from Dayton Parts as a furnace operator.
Paul was a local late model racing legend during the 1960’s, 1970’s, and early 1980’s. Dirt tracks where he enjoyed racing success included Port Royal, Hesston, Bedford, Hagerstown, Selinsgrove, Lernerville, Clearfield, Everett and Lincoln.
His hobbies included deer hunting, painting by number, listening to blue grass gospel music, and watching Nascar and local dirt track action. He collected classic diecast model cars and he could often be found on his lawn mower maintaining his immaculate lawn.
He loved his family and being with all of them. His pride and joy was spending time with his grandchildren and giving tractor rides.
His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept 24 in the parking lot of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Richard Adams officiating. If you wish to be seated outside your car for the service, please bring a chair. Although there will be no viewing, the family will receive friends on Friday one hour prior to the service outside the church. Please follow current Covid-19 protocol.Z
Interment will be in St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery, Licking Creek Valley at the convenience of the family.
