Paul Banks Smith

     Paul Banks Smith, 93, of Mifflintown, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Brookline Manor, Mifflintown.

    Born August 29, 1928, near Thompsontown, he was a son of the late Stewart Alexander and Beatrice (Keller) Smith.

     He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mary E. (Graybill) Smith, whom he married April 6, 1950, three children, Linda Dougherty of Mifflintown, Pam Campbell and husband, Bob, of Port Royal and Daniel P. Smith and wife, Melissa, of Mifflintown, one brother, Donald E. Smith and wife, Darlene, of Mifflintown, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

     He was preceded in death by an infant great-grandson, Cotter Bradley Campbell on May 14, 2019.

     Paul was a lifelong farmer. He actively farmed for 75 years and at the same time, also worked for the railroad and then for Juniata Lumber and Supply for 21 years.

     He was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, the former Milford Grange, and a committee member for Boy Scout Troop #124.

     He enjoyed hunting, gardening, reading, and being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

     Although there will be no viewing, the family will receive friends on Thursday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Licking Creek Valley where his service will follow at 11 at the church with Rev. Richard Adams officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Juniata County Meals on Wheels, PO Box 251, Mifflintown, PA 17059, to St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 8489 Licking Creek Road, Mifflintown, PA 17059, or to Boy Scout Troop 124 in care of the church.
