Nina L. Berry, 59, formerly of East Waterford, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle and finally found eternal peace on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Laurel Lakes Retirement Home, Chambersburg.
Born March 14, 1966, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Ward L. Berry and Joan F. (Clouser) Swarner.
She is survived by two children, Mary Kay Hackenberger of Manheim and Daniel Hackenberger of Port Royal; two stepchildren, Heather Bennett and Billie Mostoller; two grandchildren, Chloe and Caleb of Manheim; two nieces, Cristal Ritchey and Jonda Burdge; and two great-nieces, Alyssa and Breanne.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Adam Hackenberger, and a sister, Debra Berry.
Nina worked in a sewing factory and was a waitress at Stop 35.
She enjoyed watching TV, especially the Lifetime channel, attending church, and spoiling her grandchildren. Nina loved her children dearly and absolutely adored her grandchildren. Spending time with them brought her great joy.
She was known for being a very strong-willed, resilient, and tenacious woman. She showed us every day what true perseverance means. While our hearts mourn her loss, we take great comfort in knowing she will no longer suffer.
A special thank you to all of her cherished aides throughout her journey.
Please join us as we come together at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, to celebrate and honor Nina’s life as we share our memories and laughter, led by Pastor Judy Rowles. There will be no viewing.
