Nancy J. Foose, 89, of Tuscarora, passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, with her family beside her, at the home of her grandson, Randy Foose, in Mifflin.
Born Dec. 15, 1934 in Van Dyke, she was one of eleven children of the late John Edward and Viola (Reed) Bowen. Her husband, Harry H. Foose, Sr. whom she married Feb. 10, 1950, passed away on Feb. 23, 1990.
“Gram” as she was known to family and friends, is survived by five children, Harry H. “Herb” Foose, Jr. and wife, Leah, of Mifflintown, Michael E. Foose and wife, Sheree of McAlisterville, Fred A. Foose and wife Lee Ellen, of Port Royal, Cindy J. Horning and husband, Larry, of McAlisterville, and Jerry L. Foose of Port Royal, eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, twelve step-great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Scott Foose and Steven Foose, and two grandsons, Todd Foose and Danny Foose, four sisters, and six brothers, making her the last of her generation.
Nancy was a USDA Food Inspector at Empire Kosher Poultry and became a private caregiver after she retired.
She enjoyed doing word searches, putting puzzles together, reading, and tending to her flowers, but the most important thing in her life was her family and she loved her little dog, Oliver.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 25, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Crystal Baumgardner officiating. Interment will be in New Church Hill Cemetery.
There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. until the time of the services Thursday at the funeral home.
