Miriam “Mim” L. Manbeck Beasom, 80, of Mifflintown, went to be with our Lord on Monday, Dec. 14, 2020, at her home after a lengthy illness not related to COVID-19, surrounded by her loving family.
Born June 7, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Amos Ira and Pearl Jane (Strawser) Landis.
She is survived by her second husband, Gerald M. “Jake” Beasom, whom she married Oct. 18, 1985, two children, Monica K. Wert and companion, Alan Monico, Sr., of Mifflintown and Timothy S. Manbeck and wife, Sherri, of Port Royal, four step-children, Gary Beasom and wife, Sis, of McCoysville, Gerald Beasom and wife, Lisa, of Mifflintown, Terry Beasom and wife, Vickie, of Port Royal, and Susan Kunkel and husband, Joe, of Mexico, two sisters, Esther M. Hart of McAlisterville and Barbara J. Shelley and husband, Robert, of Thompsontown, twenty-four grandchildren, Jon Adam Wert, Justin T. Wert, Amanda E. Wert, Elijah W. Manbeck, Gideon J. Manbeck, Sarah P. Manbeck, Isaiah S. Manbeck, Esther E. Manbeck, Miriam R. Manbeck, Mary M. Manbeck, Abraham L. Manbeck, Kelsey Benner and husband, Cody, Rebecca Beasom, Megan Beasom, Josh Kerstetter, Ethan Beasom and wife, Jamie, Garin Beasom, Croix Beasom, Olivia Kunkle, Ashley Beasom, Hunter Kunkle, Shelly Foust and husband, Nick, Sandy Prince, and Trenton Beasom and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William H. Manbeck in 1978, two sisters, Alice Fealtman and Elsie Smith and one brother, Bruce Landis.
Mim graduated from East Juniata High School in 1958. In her early working years, she was a meter maid in Mifflintown and became the first policewoman for the borough. She was a secretary and bookkeeper at Hilltop Oil and was a cashier at Stop 35.
She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and she enjoyed camping.
She loved her family very much and was the very best Mom and Meemaw ever!
There will be a viewing beginning at 10 a.m. with a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19 at Otterbein United Methodist Church, East Salem, with Pastor Dave McElwee officiating. Interment will follow in the East Salem Otterbein Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church in care of Heidi Rapp, 1565 Baney Road, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
