Minnie Ellen (Nearhood) Wagner

     Minnie Ellen (Nearhood) Wagner of Thompsontown, PA entered peacefully into eternal glory at home on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, after 88 years and 7 months and 27 days of a life well lived. She was born on June 21, 1931 at home in Locust Run to Leon Casper and Mary Elizabeth (Rumberger) Nearhood who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death on February 23rd, 2014 was her loving husband of 66 years, Benjamin Warren Wagner, and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. 

     Minnie is survived by a sister, Mildred B. Strawser of McAlisterville, three sons, Warren C. and wife, Connie, of Mifflintown, David K. and wife, Debra, of Elizabethtown, and Robert E. and wife, Mary, of Thompsontown. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

     Minnie graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1948.  A homemaker and dedicated daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she thoroughly enjoyed serving her Lord by serving her family who appreciated her immensely. Minnie served Meals on Wheels as a cook and deliverer and belonged to the WCTU for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and Sudoku puzzles as well as keeping up with and faithfully recording family news.

     Minnie's family will honor her life at Thompsontown Baptist Church, 269 Birch Dr, Thompsontown, PA on Saturday, February 22 with an open casket walk-in beginning at 1:00 pm, service to follow at 2:30 pm and the interment at Locust Run Cemetery, all to be overseen by Guss Funeral Home of Mifflintown. Donations in honor of Minnie's life may be made to Meals On Wheels of Juniata County, PO Box 251, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
