Mildred J. “Mid” Bashore, 95, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2026, at her home in Port Royal.
Born Dec. 11, 1930, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Robert E. and Margaret E. (Housum) Fleck.
On Sept. 15, 1951, she married Clinton Bashore in California. After 67 years of marriage, he died on June 4, 2018. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Robert H. Fleck, David Paul Fleck, and Earl Joseph Fleck.
She is survived by four daughters, Elaine Camp and husband, Joe, Susanne Blanks, Lisa M. Bashore, and Jill N. Bashore and husband, Dr. Ghassan Baslaim. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mid was a registered nurse. Her last job, before she retired in 2012, was at Locust Grove Retirement Village where she worked for 26 years.
She was very active in the Port Royal Lutheran Church, was a Girl Scout leader for many years and head of the PTA.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, doing cross-stitch, and golfing.
When they were able, she and her husband traveled to Florida for the winter.
There will be a Nurse Honor Guard Service conducted by the Central Pa. Nurse Honor Guard at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, at Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown immediately followed by her memorial service with Rev. Samuel Leister officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
