Megan M. Kauffman, 38, of Mifflin, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville after a long illness.
Born April 27, 1985, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Patty (High) Rake.
She is survived by her husband, Matthew L. Kauffman, whom she married June 2, 2018, one son, Peter M. Kauffman, one sister, Melissa Rake of Washingtonville, her maternal grandmother, Betty High of Millville, her mother-in-law, Treva Kauffman of Mifflin, her father-in-law, Kenneth Kauffman of Honey Grove, two sisters-in-law, Kristie Kauffman of Mifflin and Tina Phillips of Walnut, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Megan received a Bachelor of Science degree in wildlife management from SUNY Cobleskill, New York. She studied Peregrine Falcons in Dinosaur National Park in Colorado, worked for Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited in North Dakota and was a Field Biologist Aide for the PA Game Commission Wild Pheasant Recovery Project. She last worked for the PA Game Commission at Loyalsock Game Farm.
She was a life member of the PA Trapper’s Association and a member of Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited.
She enjoyed turkey hunting, fishing, and birdwatching but the most important thing in her life was her family.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Cedar Grove Brethren In Christ Church, 287 Deerville Road, Mifflintown, with Pastor Mark Shellenberger officiating. Interment will be in Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
There will be a viewing Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Grove Church and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to District 8 PA Trapper’s Association, in care of Laura Chubb, 3090 Lauver Valley Road, Richfield PA 17086.
