Mary E. Smith, 93, of Mifflintown, passed away Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, at William Penn Nursing Center.
Born July 17, 1931 near Richfield, she was a daughter of the late William S. and Eva Anna (Sellers) Graybill. Her husband, Paul Banks Smith, whom she married April 6, 1950, died on May 14, 2022.
She is survived by three children, Linda Dougherty of Mifflintown, Pam Campbell and husband, Bob, of Port Royal and Daniel P. Smith and wife, Melissa, of Mifflintown, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by an infant great-grandson, Cotter Bradley Campbell on May 14, 2019, four brothers, Earl Graybill, Gerald Graybill, Stanley Graybill, and Marvin Graybill and one sister, Shelby Bordner.
Mary was a homemaker and farm wife who helped her husband on the family farm.
She was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church and the former Milford Grange.
She volunteered with Friends of Locust Grove and as a cook with Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed crocheting, coloring, reading, and quilting with the church ladies, but most of all she loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025 at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Licking Creek Valley with Rev. Richard Adams officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery. There will be no viewing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Juniata County Meals on Wheels, PO Box 251, Mifflintown, PA 17059, or to St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 8489 Licking Creek Road, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
