Mary Elizabeth (Shearer) Brodnick

     Mary Elizabeth (Shearer) Brodnick, 98, formerly of Brookline Retirement Village, Mifflintown, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023 at Vally View Retirement Center, Belleville.

     Born Nov. 3, 1924 in Lack Township, Juniata Co., she was the daughter of the late Edgar J. and Estella (Barton) Shearer. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Harold (Barton) Shearer.

     She is survived by a niece, a nephew, and cousins.

    Mary was a 1942 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown. She retired from UGI Utilities of Harrisburg with 40 years of service.

     She was a member of UGI Retirement Club, UGI Quarter Century Service Club, Paxtang ART Association of Harrisburg and a life member of Central PA Amateur Women Open Golf Association and the Juniata County Historical Society.

     She enjoyed many activities, including arts, crafts, golfing, sewing and was an avid amateur watercolorist.

     Her graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at McCullochs Mills Cemetery, McCullochs Mills. There will be no viewing. If you wish to be seated for the service at the cemetery, please bring a chair.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Juniata County Historical Society, 498 Jefferson St., Suite B, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
