Martha H. Wilson

     Martha H. Wilson, 79, of Port Royal, passed away on June 28, 2022, at her home in Spruce Hill.

     Born Nov. 13, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was a daughter of the late Ralph Forrest and Beulah Agnes (Rice) Pannebaker. Her husband, John Russell “Russ” Wilson Sr., whom she married Nov. 13, 1971, died on May 23, 2010.

     She is survived by six children, Bob Hockenberry and wife, Kathy, of Thompsontown, Agnes Yohn and husband, Robert, of McAlisterville, John Harlan “Tobe” Hockenberry of Mifflintown, Lester “Pudge” Wilson, Connie Reindollar and husband, Pat, of Hanover, and John R. “JR” Wilson. Jr. and wife, Rebecca of Mifflintown, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and two sisters, Barb Nickel of Thompsontown and Kell Hook of Florida.

     In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Ralph Hockenberry on Jan. 28, 2017.

     In her lifetime, Martha was a go-getter and worked many jobs, mostly as a cook in various local restaurants. She also provided private care giver services to many as well as working in nursing care facilities.

     She tied fishing lures, loved animals, and enjoyed playing Bingo, scratching lottery tickets, cleaning, cooking, taking meals to people and caring for others.

     Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 1, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Rev. Nathanael Mowery and Mr. Russell Bowersox officiating. Interment will be in Maze Cemetery.

     There will be a viewing from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
