Elizabeth “Libby” Peoples, 87, formerly of Oakland Mills, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born April 14, 1932 in Kistler, Mifflin Co., she was a daughter of the late Andrew C. and Margaret (Carl) Fazenbaker.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, J. Paul Peoples of Brookline Manor, Mifflintown, whom she married Dec. 13, 1953, five children, Peggy J. Sholly and husband, Stephen, of Mifflintown, Beth A. Burd and companion, Thomas Tyler, of McAlisterville, Susan Eaton and husband, Brand, of Dillsburg, Paul “Ed” Peoples of Mifflintown, and Alan K. Peoples of Lewistown, one sister, Peggy Fazenbaker of Mifflintown, five grandchildren, Michael Fry and wife, Michele, Jennifer Gleim, Robert Eaton and wife, Kimberly, Andrew Eaton and wife, Kaitlyn, and Benjamin Sholly and wife, Tiffany, and five great-grandchildren, Dominic Fry and wife, Hannah, Curtis Fry, Aubrey Eaton, Annabelle Eaton and Conner Sholly.
She was preceded in death by a stillborn son, two brothers, Robert Fazenbaker and Eugene Fazenbaker and two sisters, Anna Mae Linn and Barbara Powley.
Libby graduated from Mt. Union High School in 1950 and attended the Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing where she became a Registered Nurse. She worked as an RN at the Lewistown Hospital until 1957 when she stayed at home to raise her family.
She was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church.
She collected Fenton glassware and Cherished Teddies. She enjoyed putting puzzles together, doing word searches, and watching birds. She was also a former Brownie leader.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 9 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 4633 Cuba Mills Road, Mifflintown, with Pastor Jennifer Heikes officiating. Interment will follow in Lost Creek Mennonite Cemetery.
Although there will be no viewing, the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the services Monday at the church.
