Lori A. Leach, 63, of Mifflintown, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, surrounded by her children at the home of her daughter in Harrisburg.
Born Oct. 24, 1961, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Cletus and Laura Alice (Burns) Horning. She married Jerald “Jerry” Leach on May 15, 2005, and they shared over 16 years of marriage before his death on Jan. 9, 2022.
She is survived by six children, Erica Adamire and husband, Dwight, of Mifflintown, Jimmy Whistler and wife, Nicole, of Mifflintown, Laura Truitt and husband, Adam, of Harrisburg, Brandon Leach and wife, Rachel, of Mount Holly Springs, Jordan Leach of Enola, and Kelsey Leach of Phoenixville. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren: Lily, Cooper, Landon, Lyman, Alayna, Silas, Jacquelyn, Griffin, Rockwell, Solomon, Henry, Judah, and Eleanor, sister, Cheryl Zang of New Bloomfield, brother, Kim Horning and wife, Kathy, of Elizabethtown, and mothers-in-law, Nancy Leach of Thompsontown and Clara Whistler of Mifflintown.
She graduated from Juniata High School in 1979 and held a number of positions in both the public and private sector including as a bookkeeper for T.R. Construction, teller for the First National Bank of Mifflintown, Juniata County Treasurer, and most recently, again, in county government. She also operated her own daycare to take care of her grandchildren and many other children over the years.
She worshiped at Good News Lutheran Brethren Church and volunteered as treasurer for various organizations.
She loved summertime and enjoyed hiking, swimming, gardening, riding motorcycle with her husband, singing, skiing, spending time with family, especially her beloved grandchildren and supporting them in all their activities and endeavors.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 8489 Licking Creek Road, Mifflintown, with Rev. Michael Edwards officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery.
Although there will be no viewing, the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church.
