Loretta F. Baxter, 85, of Mifflintown, entered into rest on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.
Born Sept. 27, 1938 in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late John A. and Eurifay I. (Parks) Kyle. On Nov. 27, 1959, she married Andrew E. “Pappy” Baxter who died on Aug. 13, 2016.
She is survived by two daughters, Amy C. Beward and husband, Brian, of Middleburg and Karen L. Yetter and husband, Craig, of Dover, five grandchildren, Stephanie Kunder, Brennan Yetter, Caitlyn Yetter, Hunter Beward, and Kyle Beward and two great-grandchildren, Corbin Kunder and Donovan Nicol.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Scott A. Baxter and one brother, William E. Kyle.
Loretta was a registered nurse throughout her entire career. After graduating in the Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1961, she worked in local hospitals and nursing homes until her retirement.
She enjoyed reading, gardening and going on outings.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Jen Heikes officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
