Lloyd James Whistler, Jr., 91, of Mifflintown, went to be with his Heavenly Father, in the early morning hours on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.
Born Dec. 28, 1930, near Mifflintown, he was a son of the late Lloyd James and Sarah (Kahley) Whistler, Sr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Clara Faye (Dressler) Whistler, whom he married Dec. 24, 1957, three sons, Lloyd James Whistler III and wife, Dara, of Harrisburg, Steven Whistler and wife, Linda, of Mifflintown, and Keith Whistler and wife, Angela, of Mifflintown, two brothers, Jay Whistler and wife, Beulah, of Mifflintown, and Kenneth Whistler of Mifflintown, eight grandchildren, Erica Adamire and husband, Dwight, Jimmy Whistler and wife, Nicole, Laura Truitt and husband, Adam, Andrea Berrier and husband, Matthew, Julia Beitz and husband, Zack, Kylee Whistler and husband, Sean, Rachel Whistler, and Meiz Boozel and wife, Katrina, and nine great-grandchildren, Lily and Cooper Adamire, Landon and Lyman Whistler, Alayna, Silas, Jacquelyn, and Griffin Truitt, and Zeelia Boozel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Verna Leach and husband, Albert, and one brother, C. Ray Whistler.
Lloyd was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Naval Construction Battalion as a Seabee from April 17, 1951 until April 12, 1955.
He was a superintendent for Crider Construction Company until he retired.
He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Union Lodge #324 F.&A.M., and Past Grand Tall Cedar and a member of Juniata Valley Forest #88 Tall Cedars of Lebanon.
He enjoyed gardening, hunting, playing cards, reciting poems, and especially spending time with his family.
All services will be held on Saturday afternoon, March 5, 2022. A viewing will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, corner of Orange Street and North Third Street, Mifflintown with a Masonic Service conducted by Union Lodge #324 at 2:30 p.m., immediately followed by the funeral service with Pastor Mindy Petrovcic officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Mifflintown, where full military honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
The family would prefer that those attending the services please wear a mask.
