Levenia J. “Venie” Graybill, 99, of Locust Run, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025, after a short stay at Greenwood Village, Lewistown.
Born April 22, 1925, in Kurtz Valley, Delaware Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Verna Mae (Fogleman) Hackenberger. Her husband, Wayne W. Graybill, whom she married Oct. 19, 1946, died on June 13, 2007.
She is survived by four children, Carl Reed and wife, Sandy, Melvin Graybill and wife, Leda, Zona Allen and fiancé, Tim Brown, and David Graybill, two grandchildren, Danny Reed and wife, Heather, and Cindy Heister and husband, Chad, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She is the last of her generation, having been preceded in death by ten siblings, Mildred Brown, Robert Hackenberger, John Hackenberger, Hazel Hackenberger, Ernest Hackenberger, Helen Yocum, Lena Heimbaugh, Joe Hackenberger, Pauline Tobias, and Carl “Pete” Hackenberger.
Venie graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1944 and was employed as a typist for Bell Telephone Company in Harrisburg.
She was a member of Locust Run Church.
She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, putting puzzles together, exercising, reading, quilting, word puzzles, tending her flowers, going to activities at the Four Seasons Senior Center, playing cards with friends and family, and especially spending time with her family.
There will be a visitation for family and friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23 at Locust Run Church, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Don Walters officiating. Interment in Locust Run Cemetery will be private. There will be no viewing.
