Leonard C. Queitzsch, Sr., 90, of Mifflintown, died Monday, January 26, 2015, at Geisinger-LewistownHospital.
Born July 7, 1924 in Washington, NJ, he was a son of the late Albert E. and Elsa L. Queitzsch.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Audrey (Lange) Queitzsch, whom he married July 14, 1951; one son, Leonard C. "Chuck" Queitzsch and wife, Katherine, of Mifflintown; one daughter, Cathy L. Queitzsch and her husband, Joel Bacon, of Marysville; and four grandchildren, Caitlin Queitzsch, Bryan Queitzsch, Jessica Bacon and Joshua Bacon.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Erna Smith.
He was a life-long dairy farmer, which was not only his occupation, but also his hobby.
He was a member of the Brown Swiss Breeders Association and had been involved with soil conservation, both in Juniata County and in New Jersey. He was a former member of the Walker Township planning board and zoning board. He was very proud of the fact that he was the first farmer to plant soy beans when he came to Juniata County in 1972.
There will be no viewing and the service and interment will be at the convenience of the family.
The family requests that no flowers be sent to the house, but that memorial contributions be given to the Juniata County Food Pantry, PO Box 44, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
