Laurie Jane (Connor) Benner

     Laurie Jane Connor Benner – beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and “Nana” – passed away the morning of January 4, 2024 at the age of 76 at Brookline Manor, Mifflintown, Pennsylvania. Laurie’s heart was always filled with so much love and happiness. One that had no room for unkindness or gloom. Her smile was sunshine even amidst the cloudiest skies.

      Laurie was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Arthur Connor and Beatrice Feinbloom Connor on November 19, 1947. A graduate of the New York School for the Deaf, she married Don L. Benner, Sr. of Mifflintown on April 8, 1973. Having recently celebrated fifty years of devoted marriage, Laurie and Don were an example to us all of the enduring ties of love and affection.

      Laurie’s most heartfelt joy was the simple act of spending time with her family and friends. Whether sharing a meal, babysitting grandchildren, or just quietly sitting and watching TV together, she was most at home in the presence of those she cared for.

      Laurie is survived by her husband Don, Sr., and by their son Don L. Benner, Jr., his wife Jill, and their four children Brandon, Christian, Addison, and Quinn. All were adored with all her heart.

     She is preceded in death by her youngest son, David B. Benner, whose memory she held dear for twenty-five years.

      A celebration of Laurie’s life will be announced by the family at a time and place to be determined. We ask that in Laurie’s memory, you let her spirit of kindness live on in the world through you. Even when skies may be gray, remember to smile, to laugh, and to spark joy in the hearts of friends and strangers alike.
