LT CDR Gary C. Beale

     LT CDR Gary C. Beale, 77, of Honey Grove, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024 at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.

     Born March 12, 1947, he was a son of the late Lawrence S. and Donetta (Knotts) Beale.

     He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bonita G. (Haubert) Beale, whom he married May 21, 1967. Also surviving are one son, Scott A. Beale and wife, Judy, of Virginia Beach, three grandchildren, Zachary Beale, Jessica Cassell and husband, Tom, and Ryan Wilde and wife, Lissa, two great-granddaughters, Sonya and Chloe Wilde, one brother, Lawrence S. Beale, and one sister, Delores “Katie” Stone.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Penelope Susan Rorrer on Oct. 31, 2017.

     He was a submariner who served in the U.S. Navy as a weapons officer for more than 28 years until he retired.

     He was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion in Mifflintown.

     Gary collected antique cars and was a DIY repairman and jack of all trades around the house.

     A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13 at McCulloch’s Mills Cemetery with Pastor Caleb Burd officiating and full military honors provided by the Juniata County Veterans Council. If you wish to be seated for the service, please bring a chair.

     At a future time, following his wishes, his cremated remains will be buried at sea by the US Navy.
