Kenneth Blair Mummah, 89, passed away on the evening of May 15, 2023, in his Mifflintown home, surrounded by loved ones.
Ken was born on August 2, 1933, at the Family farm in Big Run, Mifflintown. He was the son of Harry Simon Mummah and Martha Hower Mummah.
He graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1951 and then attended Juniata College for a year, where he played baseball and football.
Ken worked at the VanDyke Brick yard before getting drafted into the United States Army where he served from 1953-1955. Following his discharge, he started work on the Pennsylvania Railroad, which became Penn Central, and then Conrail. He retired in 1995, with 41 years of service on the railroad as conductor..
In 1960, he married his wife of 63 years, Ruth Henry Mummah and together they had 3 children; daughters Susan Kay Aitken and husband Reginald of Brandon, FL., Carol M. Chmielewski and husband John of Reinholds, PA and son Kenneth A. and wife Tawny of Port Royal. His grandchildren, Harrison, Haley, and Olivia Mummah were his real pride and joy.
In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by brother Warren and wife Claire Mummah of Mifflintown, sister Janet Shearer, of East Waterford and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Karl Mummah.
Ken was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially fishing, crabbing and clamming at the Rehobeth Bay where they spent many summers. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church of Mifflintown, the American Legion, Juniata Valley Forest 88 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Union Lodge No. 324 Free and Accepted Masons, and the Juniata County Sportsman’s Club.
All the services will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 3 S. Third St., Mifflintown. The viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Sam Leister officiating. Interment will follow in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery in Mifflintown.
The family will provide all flowers and asks that donations be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, 3 S. Third Street, Mifflintown PA 17059.
