Joyce E. (Kitner) Doyle

     Joyce E. Doyle, 93, formerly of Honey Grove and of Chambersburg, died Monday, March 15, 2021, at Valley View Retirement Community, Belleville.

      Born March 6, 1928, in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Irene (Patterson) Kitner.

       Her beloved husband, Dwight E. Doyle, whom she married Sept. 5, 1948, died on Feb. 2, 2014. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Cathy Sue Doyle, on June 25, 1960.

     She is survived by one daughter, Debra J. Doyle of Burlington, VT, one granddaughter, Rebecca “Becca” Pilgrim of Burlington, VT, and one grandson, Michael Pilgrim of Woodbury, Minnesota.

     Joyce graduated from Chambersburg High School in 1946 and worked as a secretary at several places, mainly at Shively Motors, Chambersburg. Her last job was at the Honey Grove Post Office.

     She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Nook.

     She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, doing crossword puzzles, traveling and going to their cabin in Tioga County with her husband. Over the years, she sang at many places, for many organizations, and at many picking parlors with her husband, Dwight, who accompanied her on his guitar. She loved her family dearly and was very proud of all of them.

     A memorial service will be planned for a later time. Her interment will be private in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.

     The family wishes to thank the personnel at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital and especially the staff at Valley View for their many acts of kindness to Joyce.
